Junior News

Congratulations to Mitch waite for his performance at Knowle Junior Open winning the under 14's best gross. He also played well at Thornbury in the under 15's county championships. Also well done to Sam Williams for his great performance being tied third place.

FGC Junior Open - Well what a fantastic day. All Filton junior entrants played very well indeed in tough conditions. The course was superb and hope that you all enjoyed it. Congratulations to Dan Tailor for winning The Filton Net Trophy with an awesome net 64, Ceri Fearnley for winning the Filton Gross Boys Trophy. Please see full results by clicking here.

My thanks to all of the helpers there on the day. We really do appreciate all of your help and suppport.

Club Junior Knockout - Can you please all keep a look out for the Junior Knockout draw sheet which will be up on the board within the next week. All games must be played, and if anyone does not make the cut off dates they will be withdrawn from the event. This is a big event in the Junior calender and needs to be supported and played. Thank you.

We are now very pleased to announce that all juniors with a handicap can play at weekends after 9am. This is for a trial period so we would stress to all juniors to please respect this new ruling and always use common sense and if needs be stand aside and let adult members through if you are slow. Now you have no excuse to get up over the winter months leading up to the start of the season.

Junior Nights - The next Junior Night will now be Mon 8 Sept @ 6pm. With poor weather we have missed a few so we will try to get back on target in two weeks. There are only two junior nights left this year so it would be nice to get as many numbers there as possible.

Roll-Ups

Junior roll-up days have been a great success in the past and we will aim in 2006 to make them more successful, but we need your support also in participating.

The more that turn up the more enjoyable it will be for everyone, and please we do need notice so use the email address or contact us by phone if you are coming to play.

We want to see the newer members making an effort in playing these events as we are always on the lookout for new players to take part in the junior league side, and this event is a great learning curve for you. Meeting new members, making new friends and gaining experience in playing against other in competitions.

Just try and make the effort and you may feel nervous, but believe me you will have a great day, and you may even come home with a prize. If you have any questions, please contact myself or Gary.

An awesome day was had at Celtic manor and we picked the best day with the weather. All the kids followed their golfing heroes around the amazing 2010 course and obtained autographs and memorabilia to remember the day. Thank you to all parents that helped ferry juniors back and forth.  Same time next year!!

We are now looking at possible dates in September for this away trip and if we cannot get any in September we will look for another venue. Watch this space.

British Heart Foundation

Filton Juniors have supported the British Heart Foundation now for three years and it has been a total success for us. We started with two teams of three and last year entered three. We plan to enter four teams when the next challenge comes round. Unfortunately 2008 has been cancelled due to BHF not being able to raise enough sponsors to run the whole event, but promise to be back in 2009.

2007 saw Filton Golf Club hosting the first preliminary round which was a great honour for us, and to actually win the event was fantastic. We also took a third place as well giving two of our teams a place in the second round at Taunton Vale G.C.

Tom Duke, James Davies and Mitch Waite coming first and Rob Lloyd, Jordan Cox and Sean Sibley taking third place. Unfortunately our hopes ended at Taunton Vale, but the lads played very well indeed.

Arc Monitoring Ltd was founded in October 1999 by the Management team of a successful security company based in Bristol.
